| Sensex closes at new record high of 11,079 |
The market continued its upward journey, with the sensex scaling 11100 levels.
After opening with a positive gap of 46 points, the Sensex zoomed to a new all-time intra-day high of 11,101, and finally settled with a huge gain of 129 points at 11,079.
HLL and Tata Steel surged over 5% each to Rs 269 and Rs 518, respectively. ITC soared 4% to Rs 193.
Hindalco spurted over 3% to Rs 175. ACC and ONGC rallied nearly 3% each to Rs 785 and Rs 1,257, respectively.
Bharti Tele advanced 2.6% to Rs 393. Cipla and Gujarat Ambuja added 2% each to Rs 639 and Rs 98.35, respectively.
Wipro slipped 2.2% to Rs 520.
The breadth in the market at the BSE was positive, with 1,365 advancers, against 1,156 decliners as action was seen in mid and small-cap companies.
